When I was at the grocery store today, I decided that I would have turkey sandwiches for lunch this week. My first stop was to get some bread. Before I decided on the type of bread that I wanted, I read the ingredients on the label. I have learned that the first ingredient listed is the main ingredient in the product. I narrowed my choice the bread made with wheat flour. The turkey part was easy since I like the deli meat that is referred to as No Salt Turkey Breast. This meat actually tastes like baked turkey breast.
To jazz up my sandwich, I wanted to buy some interesting mustard. I am such a mustard whore. I can have mustard on any type of meat. Sometimes it is more like a little meat with my mustard. In my search for mustard, I picked up this interesting looking jar of mustard based on the label on the front of the jar. Before putting the jar in my cart, I decided to read the back label. The first ingredient listed was sugar and the second was eggs. Why in the world is there sugar in the mustard? And eggs? Where is the mustard seed? Needless to say, I didn’t buy that jar of mustard but selected one with actual mustard ingredients in it. These days you really need to read the labels of packaged products to know what you are eating.
