Last night I began the task of switching my winter clothes to my summer clothes in the closet. This is such a tedious task. This year, before I put away the winter clothes, I looked at each piece of clothing and decided if I wanted to keep it or give it away. As I unpacked the summer clothes, I would first wash them before putting them in the closet since they have been in plastic storage bins for months. Since I haven’t worn these clothes for about 6 months, I decided to try them on before even washing them.
As I was putting on some clothes that were tight last year, it made me happy seeing that the clothes now fit just right. Then there were some clothes that fit last summer that just looked too big on me now. Those clothes went in the giveaway pile. As I was going through the clothes, I came across this purple dress that I have had for years in hopes that one day I would fit into it. As I slid the dress over my head and looked into the mirror, the dress finally fit me. The only problem with the dress is that it has these side slits that were cut way too high up the thigh. This dress also went into the giveaway pile but at least it was going because of the dress design and not because it didn’t fit me.
There were other clothes that still fit me but I have worn these clothes for so many years that I was just sick of them and decided not to keep them. Now that I have washed all my clothes, the next task is organizing the clothes in the closet and drawers. Shoes are another item that I switch for the seasons. I also weed through the shoes and give away any that I don’t want anymore or really haven’t worn.
I got up early today and continued to sort and wash the clothes. After 6:00 a.m. I started getting ready for my bike ride. I was surprised how many people were already on the path when I got there. Next week I am going to head out earlier. There is something really peaceful about riding through the trees which I really enjoy.
I was on a roll with my clothes project but had to stop since I needed to be somewhere for about 3 hours. Now that I am back home, the project continues. My bedroom looks like a tornado hit so hopefully I can get the room back to normal before I go to sleep.
This has been a productive weekend for me in getting things done. And to end the weekend, the Hawks won their game today and are heading to the Stanley Cup finals. I am sure that the fans in the Madhouse are going to do some celebrating tonight.
