Tonight was my first group run for the 10K training. It was good to see the coordinator of the training sessions, Laura, again. I was happy to see Shannon from my 5K group there again who was also running the 10K this time. The 1st clinic was just an overview of the program and then we headed out with our group to run.
We were running 2 miles tonight so we just ran around the park instead of venturing out to the lake. The path was mostly dry but you had to watch for the ice and snow on the ground and run around it. The weather was about 40 degrees so I wasn’t cold running. I guess all the layers of clothing helped. I did have a little trouble breathing properly since I am still recovering from my cold. It is distracting when you keep coughing when you are running. All in all I was able to run the 2 miles without stopping.
After the run, I saw other group leaders that I ran with last year. We don’t always remember each other’s name but we remember each other’s face. It just makes it more fun when you know the people. I have missed running with my group and it feels great to be able to run with them again.
