As part of the running training program I received a CARA booklet that included various running information and a workout schedule. It was suggested that you repeat each class night’s workout at least three times a week or every other day to build your distance and endurance. In each week’s schedule, a couple of days were marked as ‘Rest’ days. Since I did the group run yesterday, I took this evening as a Rest day. Well, I did walk about a mile after work while doing some errands but that was as close to a ‘rest’ that I could do.
Sometimes your body just needs to do nothing to recharge it’s battery. I find it really difficult to do nothing. Speaking of nothing, this reminds of one of those quips you find on one of those calendars where you rip off one of the pages each day. The quip went something like this, “When you ask your man what he is thinking about when he is quiet and he says ‘nothing’, he really means he is thinking of nothing.” I just want to add that this was on a calendar intended for women. Wasn’t there a Seinfeld show about ‘Nothing’?
Sometimes you get in trouble for doing nothing. I have been told, “Why are you just standing there doing nothing? Do something.” Remembering those words from that past makes me feel guilty when I do nothing. I think I feel that way because my parents are always doing something. I never really see them sitting around doing nothing. Because I can be such a geek at times, I looked up in the dictionary the meaning of the word ‘nothing’. The dictionary definition was ‘not any thing’. That’s it; nothing more. This is the shortest definition of a word that I have seen. Even the dictionary had nothing to say about the word nothing.
Since I starting to write about nothing, I am going to bed and continue to do nothing.
